You first tooth started poking through this month, and you were drooling like crazy all the while! Here’s a few pics – one of you sitting for one of the first times, and also of you “reading”. You seem to really enjoy books, which makes me very happy!

Your first Christmas
Surgery day
This was a very stressful day. We took you in to CHKD for your hernia surgery. We were so scared because they had to put you under for this, and you were still so young. What if you didn’t wake up from the anesthesia? You shared a room with a young boy who was maybe 11 or 12. You cried a lot, before and after the surgery. They kept you overnight, and you had a little stuffed animal that Mrs. Jackson that lives back behind us gave you. Unfortunately, the hospital managed to lose this so it didn’t come home with you. Your surgery went well. They embedded a mesh into your abdomen to reinforce the muscle wall there. They checked your other side to ensure there were no muscle tears there, and there were not. We were so relieved to see you awake afterwards, even if you were crying! At this point, your short time on this planet has already been a whirlwind!
12 weeks old
You turned 12 weeks old today. 8 more days until your hernia surgery. Your favorite tv show is The Wiggles and you are starting to do alright in your “Lady Bug” activity chair. We have to pad the back of the seat as you are still a bit small to fit in it safely by yourself. Here you are watching The Wiggles in that chair.
Well hey there!
Today, you were born. The morning started with mom spending much of the night and AM in the bathroom thinking she was constipated but really had to poop. About 5:45am or so she started hollering for me. She hollered she thought it was time and we had to go! So up I jumped in a panic and got your sister awake. We left in a hurry and I think I was doing 70mph down Rt 17, mom moaning the whole way. I think it took about 30 minutes to get from the house on Gum Fork to Mary Immaculate in Newport News. You were born not 15 minutes after we got there. You were small, 6 weeks premature, but scored great on the APGAR (I think they are called) tests, with 9s all around.
I must say, it was a very stressful and confusing time since you were on the way when we got there. I was unable to stand beside mommy as nurses were all over the place. They took you straight to the NICU after delivery. I think you spent about 4-5 days there before we could take you home. It was very hard to see your little body with all the different IVs and cords they had attached.
